Start with your child

Ask your child what helps and what does not. Some children want to read aloud, others prefer to choose when.

A simple script

“My child stutters. It is nobody's fault. Please give extra time to finish, keep eye contact, and do not finish their words.”

What to ask for

  • A calm response from classmates, and no teasing.

  • Options for presentations, like going first or presenting to a smaller group.

  • A quick check-in with your child's speech therapist if needed.
